Must-see events when visiting Ono City
Spring
Ono Cherry-Blossom Viewing Boulevard (Ōbe area)
A total of 650 cherry-blossom trees line up for a stretch of 4km, making it the longest cherry-blossom boulevard in Western Japan.
Yoshino cherry trees, among the four other varieties, are planted in groups, upstream to downstream, allowing the trees to bloom in seasonal order to enjoy the flowers-viewing longer.
Summer
Ono Festival
Ono Festival, the largest summer festival, takes place in the Kita-harima every August. About 140,000 people attend to enjoy the “Ono-koi Dance”, more than 5,000 fireworks and forget about the summer heat, making it the biggest event of the year.
Fall
Nishi-waki Jaku-ichi Shrine Festival
The “Nishi-waki-cho Shishimai-Lion Dance”, which you can see performed at the Nishi-waki Jaku-ichi Shrine Festival, is recognized by the government to be an intangible cultural treasure. According to legend, this Shishimai-Lion Dance originates in the Edo period when it was used as a prayer against the widespread illnesses of the age.
Winter
Big Doll’s Festival & Doll Viewing (January - March)
City office buildings and downtown’s market street come together to hold an exhibit of Kōkokan’s “Big Doll’s Festival”, for all to view and enjoy.

A Representation of Ono City’s Good Eats
Since 1955, “Onokoi Horumon Yakisoba (fried noodles with offal)” started to gain popularity among the metal-workers and abacus-makers in Ono City who frequented the yakiniku shops (grilled meat). The sweet and fragrant fats from the offal and the delightfully slippery noodles transformed this dish into a favorite and always sells well among the people within the city. “Onokoi Horumon Yakisoba” has been supported and held up by the The Ono City Tourist Association.
The following shops all offer their unique take on “Onokoi Horumon Yakisoba”. Please try different tastes offered by all the various shops!
